As a newly appointed professor at a university, one has an opportunity to give an inaugural lecture. Lena chose to speak about the importance of diversity for sustainable social and ecological growth and how the design process can play a part in making this possible.

The industrial design department won the Mid Sweden University's Equality Prize of 2014. On Equal Terms Day, 2015, the head of the department Mikael Marklund, together with Lena Lorentzen, gave a lecture on how they work with these issues in their department.
